For many woodturners, trying to use the skew chisel is more than a little daunting. I don’t claim to be an expert with the skew, but I do know is is a fantastic tool in many situations with spindle turning, and it can produce a fantastic finish. I believe Alan Lacer is one of the best teachers for how to use the skew. He offers several DVD videos that are excellent.

A good way to develop and improve your skew turning abilities is to work on Alan’s Skew Warmup exercises daily, or each time you are in the shop for turning.
